Andrew

Andrew, Class of 2012

Hume-Fogg High School | Brooklyn College | University of New Mexico, Candidate for PhD in Physics

Through his Waldorf education, Andrew cultivated a love for both science and art, and he credits his time at Linden for influencing his life and current career choices. “Linden has made me who I am today by having fostered my love for learning,” says Andrew. “I came out of Linden with a knowledge of what made me passionate, and the motivation to explore those subjects with rigor.”

After Linden, Andrew attended Hume-Fogg High School and the School for Science and Math at Vanderbilt. During high school, Andrew was lead cellist for the Music City Orchestra, he participated in Show Choir and Choir, and he held numerous lead roles in theatrical performances. He continues to play cello and guitar, and he makes art through digital images created by exploring the fractal nature of the Mandelbrot set.

Andrew has received numerous scholarships and awards, including a Tennessee Junior Academy of Science award for a paper on forensic robotics; an Honors Scholarship and the Ida and Philip Klein Scholarship for excellence in physics at Brooklyn College; and, in graduate school, the Outstanding Student Presentation Award from the American Physical Society for a paper presented in collaboration with the ATLAS project at CERN.

Andrew is currently pursuing a PhD in physics at the University of New Mexico, and his passion for music and theater continues.
