Laura Duke

Music Teacher

Waldorf experience: 16 years

Education: Rhodes College, BA

Ms. Duke has worked at Linden for sixteen years, first as Enrollment Coordinator, then moving to music. She holds a BA in Music from Rhodes College in Memphis, attended Belmont University for her teaching certificate, and has completed certificates in "Uncovering the Voice" and in Foundation Studies in Waldorf Education. Ms. Duke has also completed the three levels of Orff music certification, after having grown up using this method.

Before moving to Nashville, Ms. Duke performed with Opera Memphis, Theater Memphis, and with the Memphis Vocal Arts Ensemble. Ms. Duke is now the Choir Director at St. David’s Episcopal Church, working with the adult, children’s, and handbell choirs. She also has a private music studio for piano, voice, and flute.

Ms. Duke is the mother of three Linden alumni (2011, 2014, 2017). At one of her first Linden parent meetings, one of the Early Childhood assistants introduced her to the group and said that she would one day be the music teacher at Linden. “She was right,” says Ms. Duke, “and I'm so blessed to be able to sing and make music with the students every day.”
