Waldorf One World DayLinden Students Celebrate10/7/2011
Last Thursday, September 29, our 8th graders participated in Waldorf One World (WOW) Day. They joined forces with students from Waldorf schools around the world to raise money to support Waldorf and social initiatives in developing nations. The Class of 2012 will donate $262, all the net proceeds from last week's pizza and paletas sales, to support Shanti Seva Griha in Nepal a project that serves over 1,000 people labeled as "outcasts" in Nepal - including lepers and orphans. The project offers free medical care, a bio-dynamic farm and a Waldorf school. How appropriate that on Michaelmas, while we celebrated courage and action, the class of 2012, with the support of the school community took positive action to help those in dire need. WOW-Day has been a successful European project for 16 years. In 2010, almost 150 Waldorf schools from 14 countries participated together and raised more than 315,000 Euros to support disadvantaged children in more than 40 initiatives in over 20 countries. This year was the first time that North American Waldorf students participated.
