The annual fund campaign begins each fall and provides funds to support basic operational expenses. The participation of the entire community is particularly critical in the annual fund as it demonstrates both to potential outside donors and to members of our own community our commitment to Waldorf education.
Many employers will match donations their employees make to non-profit organizations. Check with your employer to see if your company offers matching gifts. Contact Tricia Drake (Development Coordinator) or Kat Potter (Business Manager) for more information.
A capital campaign is undertaken as the need for expanded and refurbished facilities is recognized. It is a time-limited campaign that goes above and beyond the regular fundraising that supports the day-to-day operating budget, and specifically provides funds for building, renovation, purchasing land, and other large projects.
These gifts allow donors to leave a lasting legacy for the future. Memorials and tributes are gifts accepted in recognition of a person or event and can be designated to special or regular funds. Planned giving is the creation of a gift through an estate, trust, annuity, insurance policy, or bequest.
Gifts in-kind are an important asset for the school. Donors should check with the Business Office or Development Office whether a gift can be accepted before an item is delivered. Please complete a “Receipt for Noncash Gifts/Gifts In-Kind” in the Business Office so that you have a tax receipt for your gift. The IRS requires donors to substantiate the value of donated items, so please maintain your own receipts or records along with the acknowledgment from LWS. We also welcome donated services.
To learn more about giving opportunities, please e-mail Tricia Drake at or call 615-354-0270 x26. You may also mail your pledge to Linden Waldorf School 3201 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37215.
In addition to giving campaigns, we host the following large fundraising events every year:
Held every year in early November, the Elves’ Faire is both a gift from the parents to the children and community, as well as one of our most successful fundraisers. The Development Office and Elves Fair committee are responsible for organizing the event with support from the Parent Council and entire parent body. All families participate by making crafts and baking food, as well as working to set-up, take down, and carry out the festival. Please visit our Elves' Faire page at www.elvesfaire.org.
Each year enthusiastic volunteers, faculty, and staff plan a fun-filled event with both silent and live auctions. This offers the double bonus of raising money while providing an opportunity for community members to socialize as adults. Inviting friends from outside the community for this fun event is highly encouraged. For this event, parents are often asked to donate or solicit gifts that are sold in the silent/live auction at the Gala

Ongoing campus wide fundraisers include:
Box Tops 4 Education
LWS collects “box tops” from all participating General Mills products including Cascadian Farms, Ziploc, Avery office products and more. Box tops are submitted twice a year for a donation from GM to LWS. A collection box is located in the Main Office. For a complete list of participating products please visit: www.boxtops4education.com.
Book Fairs are held once a year through Steiner Books. The fairs promote reading and offer an opportunity to stock your personal library as well as your child’s classroom library. These fairs also raise additional funds for the school.Gift Cards
The gift card program is an easy way to raise money for Linden. Through this program, we offer gift cards from a number of companies. These cards are not just for gift giving but for every day purchases. For more information, visit: www.GLScrip.com or call the Development Office at 615-354-0270 ext 26.
LWS is a drop off site for Planet Green Recycling. Through this program we recycle ink cartridges, phones and small electronics and are able to raise additional money towards our yearly fundraising goal. Visit the Planet Green website to see what items you can recycle through LWS and Planet Green: http://www.planetgreenrecycle.com/
