Linden Waldorf School of Nashville

Volunteering at Linden Waldorf School

LWS is a community of teachers, parents, and students who have come together to foster social change for the good.  The successful operation of the school relies heavily on the time and energy given by our families. There is a need for volunteers on both an individual class level and a school-wide level.

Waldorf schools strive to embody this Steiner verse:  “The healthy social life is found when in the mirror of each human soul the whole community finds its reflection, and when in the whole community the virtue of each one is living.”

From assisting your child’s teacher with class needs to helping the school shine through weeding the planters, volunteerism is part of the culture of giving that is so critical to the success of our school.  Your participation helps ensure the vibrancy and effectiveness of the Linden Waldorf School.

Below you will find many great reasons to lend your time and talents to LWS.

  • Families become more familiar with each other, and friendships and good will thrive.
  • We inspire the students with the motivation to become helpers and givers in the world.
  • Studies have shown that students who see their parents involved in the schools achieve better academically and socially.
  • The school campus becomes more than a learning space; it becomes a place of thriving activity and community.
  • We develop a sense of stewardship, which in turn creates more opportunity for improvement, growth, and outreach.
  • Many hands make light work.

Though there are always opportunities to get involved, below you will find the primary volunteer efforts at LWS along with the possible time commitment associated with the task:

  • Classroom Set Up Prior to the Start of School (2 Hours)
  • Steiner Book Fair (2 Hours to 4 Hours)
  • Ms. Pumpkin (EC families / 4 Hours)
  • Second Harvest Family Night (2 Hours)
  • Campus Beautification (3 Hours x 2 – Fall and Spring)

  • Field Trip Chaperone/Drive (2 to 6 Hours)
  • Mailings/Stuffing Envelopes (2 Hours)

We request that each family challenge itself to devote at least 20 hours in service to Linden Waldorf School.
