Fundraising“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
—Sir Winston Churchill
Linden Waldorf School depends on the generosity of our parents, Faculty, alumni, community, friends, and foundations to help create a supportive environment that nurtures the development and education of our students. In turn, our students receive the foundation they need to make their contributions to their communities and the wider world. Our tuition only covers approximately 70% of our school’s operating budget. Therefore, to keep our school as affordable as possible, we rely heavily on our fund-raising efforts to meet our operational and strategic goals. All parents are asked to embrace this culture of giving and are expected to participate to the best of their abilities. Online Giving Volunteering Volunteering is strongly encourage and helps promote the culture of giving that is so critical to the success of our school. There are many opportunities to be involved. This includes volunteering in the classroom, participating in the Parent Alliance, and joining committees. Your participation helps ensure the vibrancy and effectiveness of the school. Volunteer Form Annual Fund The goal of the Annual Fund is to close the gap between tuition revenue and the costs of operation. All monies raised are dedicated to the operating budget of the school, which covers such items as faculty salaries, financial aid, and student programs and services. Annual giving enables every parent to participate productively in the financial life of the school with a tax-deductible gift. As we strive to improve and enhance our school, the generosity of these gifts makes a significant difference in the lives of our students and creates a financial network of donors that enables us to fulfill our mission. The Spring Gala is held off-site), making for a festive, “grown-up” evening for parents and friends of the school. An online auction is also incorporated into our Gala fundraising efforts. “..we must be glad that we can come together in the spirit of wanting to bring about a better future for humanity by working together with those who are trying to raise and educate the generations to come in the sense of real knowledge and of love for the human being.”

GoodSearch Good Search allows you to earn one penny for every click of your mouse while surfing the Internet. If consider how many searches the average person does in a day and multiply that by the number of computers owned by our school population, the amount of money earned can be substantial. The GoodSearch company estimates that a small organization with 100 supporters could earn approximately $730.00 a year. The earnings increase exponentially if you use GoodSearch for your online shopping needs. Just a small sampling of retailers who participate in GoodSearch’s marketplace include Macy’s, Flowers.com, Zappos Shoes, Target, Travelocity, and iTunes. Harris Teeter Harris Teeter grocery stores have a “Together In Education” program of cash back to participating schools. If you already have a Harris Teeter VIC (“very important customer” card) you may link that card to LWS online using the Harris Teeter website. Harris Teeter gives 5% back on selected purchases, which tend to be Harris Teeter brand items. Note that you must re-link your VIC card to Linden Waldorf School at the start of every school year. Link to Harris Teeter.com iGive.com iGive.com is an online marketplace with a staggering array of retailers all giving a portion of each online purchase to Linden Waldorf School. At the present time they will donate $5.00 to the organization of your choice right off the top when you join and shop within 45 days. An extra advantage of this particular site is that they will keep track of what you donate for tax purposes. SchoolPop SchoolPop is an online marketplace with a staggering array of merchants ready to give money to LWS. A few of these retailers include Saks.com, Kmart and OfficeMax. You can even shop for movie tickets on this site. SchoolPop ran a “Back to School Free Shipping” promotion this year. One of the most interesting things I learned at this site is that you can make Amazon purchases here and get 2% back! eScrip.com eScrip allows you to earn money for LWS by registering your credit card with them. Once your card or cards are registered. A percentage of the money you spend at participating merchants will be donated to LWS. UPromise UPromise began as a way for consumers to save money for their children’s education. However, as an added benefit, you may allocate a portion of your savings (from 1% to 100%) to be donated to the educational institution of your choice. Publix seems to be the primary supporter of UPromise and has streamlined their participation in the program so that all you have to do when making a purchase at Publix is have the cashier scan your UPromise keychain card. If you already have a UPromise account, you may easily modify your account to reflect the percentage of your savings you wish to give to Linden Waldorf School. . If you don’t have an account, you may sign up and designate both the school and the amount you wish to allocate at Link to Upromise.com |
