Linden Waldorf School of Nashville

Parent Alliance

Linden Waldorf School has a tradition of active parent involvement in the Parent Alliance, which was founded by parents as a support for the Faculty in 2002. The Parent Alliance serves as a school-wide organization to support the work of the Faculty, Board, and Administration of the school. All Linden Waldorf School parents are automatically members of the Parent Alliance and are encouraged to attend its monthly meetings and other activities held each month. Its mission is "to provide a form and forum for parent ideas, concerns, and participation, to support the school, and to create a vibrant community." Parent Alliance goals include
  • Overseeing the organization of the Elves’ Faire and any other festivals requiring parent volunteer efforts;
  • Coordinating the volunteer efforts of parents and friends in the physical improvement and maintenance of school buildings;
  • Initiating and coordinating social events to foster a spirit of community within the school;
  • Endeavoring to increase awareness and understanding of Waldorf philosophy among parents and friends of the wider community;
  • Actively pursuing fund-raising activities to provide for events and activities pertaining to parent education and social gatherings, as well as equipment,  maintenance, teacher training, and services beyond the means of funds otherwise available to the school.

The Parent Alliance Council is the decision-making body for the Linden Waldorf School parent community. The Parent Alliance Chair also serves as a voting member on the Board of Trustees.
