Tuition is set by the Board of Trustees at a level to meet the cost of operations. For the 2011-2012 school year, the tuition and fees are as follows:

Explanation of Non-Refundable Fees

Enrollment Fee
A $100 enrollment fee is due with each contract submitted to the school. The enrollment fee is not part of yearly tuition and is not refundable.

Tuition Protection Fee
This non-refundable fee is assessed for all families. The tuition protection fee is due with each contract with the exception of families who have applied for tuition assistance. Families applying for tuition assistance may wait to pay the fee until the offer of assistance is made and the acceptance form is returned to the School in late April. For families using the single payment option and who opt out of tuition protection, the paid fee will be credited against the tuition charge.

Activity and Supply Fee
The activity and supply fee is due with the first tuition payment. This fee covers the cost of most classroom materials and activities (such as snacks for students in our Early Childhood program, flutes and recorders, pencils and paper, and some field trips). Costs for subjects such as handwork, woodworking, Spacial Dynamics and Spanish are included. Costs for school festivals as well as shared supplies and equipment are also covered by this fee. If unanticipated costs arise during the school year, there may be additional charges for specific classes or activities.

Payment Plans

1. Single payment option: When paying by cash or check, please pay directly to the school on or before July 10, 2013. We cannot accept tuition payments by credit card at school. If you wish to make your single payment by credit card, you must enroll in FACTS Tuition Management+. If payment in full is made to the school by July 10, 2013, you may opt out of the tuition protection program by initialing the contract in the appropriate space.

2. Two payment option (through FACTS Tuition Management+): If this option is chosen, payments are due on July 20, 2013, or August 5, 2013 and January 20, 2014, or February 5, 2014. The entire non-refundable activity and supply fee is due with the first tuition payment.

3. Ten payment option (through FACTS Tuition Management+): With the ten payment option, payments are due monthly from July 20, 2013, to April 20, 2013, or August 5, 2013, through May 5, 2014. The entire non-refundable activity and supply fee is due with the first tuition payment.

+Requires enrollment in FACTS Tuition Management. The School is contracting with FACTS Tuition Management for tuition collection. The payment methods are either automatic debit from a bank account or a credit card charge (with a 2.5% fee added for credit card charges). The company provides an online registration process through our school website.

Parents wishing to set up a recurring annual fund donation as part of their tuition payment plan may do so by e-mailing or writing to the Business Manager (businessmanager@lindenwaldorf.org). For new students enrolling after September 30, 2010, tuition will be prorated according to a separate schedule

Extended Care

Resting Stars Program for Kindergarten and Early Childhood Students (12:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m.): The school day ends for students in our Early Childhood program at 12:30 p.m., and we offer the Resting Stars program for children who will be staying at school until 3:00 p.m. We ask families to enroll in this program as part of the regular school enrollment process. Payment for this program will be included with the same payment option chosen for tuition. See the chart below for rates.

Morning Care and After Care: We offer drop-in Morning Care from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. at a rate of $4 per day for one child and $6 per day for two children. Early Childhood students who are siblings of Grades students may attend from 8:00 a.m.-8:15 a.m. without incurring a charge. We offer drop-in After Care from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at a rate of $4 per half hour (up to $15 a day) or $7 per half hour for two children (up to $25 a day). Parents arriving after 5:30 p.m. may be assessed a $1/minute late fee. Charges for Morning Care and After Care will be billed monthly, separate from tuition.

Instrumental Rentals & Lessons:
Beginning in 3rd grade all students begin a string instrument. The office can make suggestions of where to rent or buy an instrument. Beginning in 4th grade all students are required to have weekly lessons outside of school. Lessons average $25 a lesson.

Field Trips:
Occasionally there may be small charges for outside field trips.

Annual Fund Drive:
Each year parents, faculty, staff and friends of the school are asked to give to our Annual Fund Drive. The money raised helps offset the cost of running the school. (tuition only covers about 85% of our operating budget) The amount given is at each family’s discretion, but we do expect 100% participation from our community. Gifts are tax deductible.

Capital Campaign:
LWS will be kicking off a Capital Campaign to help renovate and/or build new facilities for our school. Families are expected to make a long-term gift to help this effort. Gifts are tax deductible.
